Description

The 2012 Benjamin Harrison Presidential Dollar WDDO-001 carries Class VI hub doubling that produces extra thickness on all design elements around the rim. The doubling concentrates most heavily along the right side, with clear thickening visible on the bust details. The obverse die markers are a die scratch trending southwest from below the 9 in the date 1893, together with a small gouge beneath T in PRESIDENT. On the reverse, collectors will find a gouge inside the lower N of UNITED and a north-south die scratch placed midway between F of OF and the first A in AMERICA. It is cataloged as CONECA 1-O-VI and attributed by the Wexler Team. Position A and Position B name which way up the edge lettering runs (on Position A it reads upside down when the portrait faces up); the Mint added the lettering after striking, in random orientation, so the same die variety occurs with either.
