2012 (P) Presidential Dollar - Benjamin Harrison, Position A - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 2012-P $1 BH WDDR-002, this Presidential Dollar variety was struck at the Philadelphia Mint and features the Benjamin Harrison portrait. The doubled die reverse shows hub misalignment during the die-sinking process that created visible doubling on the Statue of Liberty reverse design shared across the Presidential Dollar series from 2007 through its conclusion. Don Everhart designed the common reverse featuring the Statue of Liberty with radiant torch, surrounded by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination. No cross-references to other attribution systems have been established for this variety. The Presidential Dollar program was authorized under the Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005, producing four designs per year honoring deceased presidents. Struck in manganese brass clad composition at 8.1 grams on 26.5mm planchets with a lettered edge bearing incuse date, mintmark, and E PLURIBUS UNUM, the 2012 Benjamin Harrison dollar was among the later issues produced only for collector distribution after circulation production ceased in December 2011.
