Description
2012P-1DEO-023T has trails off WE and the first letter of TRUST, running due east at 090°, toward the right edge. File 023 in TrailDies' 2012 Philadelphia obverse list, its code combines 2012P, 1 for the cent, DEO for the extended obverse design, and T for trails. Neither side of the middle-die-state coin shows markers, so the position and bearing of the lines are what identify it; 2012P-1DEO-015T has lines in a similar area but at 080°. Joe Koelling found the die. Trails are usually put down to polishing of the die with a rotary tool, though some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
