Description
On 2012P-1DEO-016T the trails rise from the tops of LIBE in LIBERTY at 010°, slightly east of north. Its TrailDies code: 2012 is the year, P the Philadelphia Mint, 1 one cent, DEO a design extension on the obverse, 016 the file, T trails. By stage C a crack runs from Lincoln's hair down through the forehead to the brow, and the reverse has a crack with chips on the shield's upper left edge above URI of PLURIBUS and a chip on the upper right edge above its S. Mark Britton found the die. The usual explanation for trails is polishing with a rotary buff, though some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
