2012 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DEO-009T Trail Die Obverse

Description

2012P-1DEO-009T has trails from the ST of TRUST, running at 330°, north-northwest. TrailDies adds that the lone line off the Y's left arm in LIBERTY probably came from the master die, so it is not part of this die's trails. Its number lays out the 2012 Philadelphia date, the one-cent 1, the obverse tag DEO for design extension, file 009 and the trails letter. The coin, at a middle die state, has no obverse markers; on the reverse, the shield's edge has a die chip above the P of PLURIBUS and another above its S. Joe Koelling found the die. Trails are generally thought to come from polishing the die with a rotary buff; some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
