Description
On 2012P-1DEO-008T the trails come from WE and the TR of TRUST, and perhaps from LIBERTY's Y, running at 305°, northwest. TrailDies' code puts the year and P first, then 1 for a cent and DEO for the obverse design extension, then file 008 and T. The middle-die-state coin it describes is heavily scratched across the obverse and has a crack on Lincoln's forehead; the reverse also has die scratches through AMERICA and along the shield's edges. Bear Johnson found the die. Those scratches on both sides help confirm the die. Trails are usually explained as the result of polishing the die with a rotary tool, though some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
