2012 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - P-1DEO-007T Trail Die Obverse

Description

2012P-1DEO-007T has strong trails from LIBERTY and lighter ones from the RUST of TRUST, all heading at 340°, north-northwest. In that TrailDies code, file 007 follows 2012P (the Philadelphia date), 1 (one cent) and DEO (design extension, obverse), and T stands for trails. The middle-die-state coin has a light die scratch from the lower part of the L in LIBERTY, and on the reverse a crack with a chip on the shield's edge near a corner. Sean Wilson found the die. The strength of the lines on LIBERTY is the first thing to look for. Trails are most often credited to polishing the die with a rotary buff, though some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
