2011 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

2011 WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 2011 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Strong extra thickness shows on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE CENT, the LB initials and the shield, with the widest spread on the reverse's left side. Strong notches mark the bottom left of the N and E in ONE and of the L in LB, and Wexler notes the hub shift also distorted the leftmost letters of E PLURIBUS UNUM, which are incuse in this design. Wexler notes no obverse markers. On the reverse: a small gouge under the F of the JFM initials; a pre-die crack depression along the top of the shield on its left side; and a pre-die chip depression at the shield's top left. Robert M. Pelletier submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
