About This Coin
The 2011 Native American Dollar is a United States dollar from the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. In 2011, coins were struck at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints with a combined mintage of 79.2 million. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, on her back; the reverse changes every year to honor a Native American contribution. The 2011 Native American Dollar commemorates the 1621 peace treaty between Plymouth Colony settlers and the Wampanoag Confederacy. The reverse shows hands at either end of a ceremonial peace pipe. Struck in manganese brass (77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, 4% nickel) bonded to a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Across its variants, estimated values range from $1 to $10 depending on mint mark, grade, and strike type. A notable auction result reached $400 in MS69 grade at Heritage Auctions. Designed by Glenna Goodacre/Richard Masters.
