2009 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-021
Error
Description
Cataloged by VarietyVista and cross-referenced as FS-806 (Fivaz-Stanton), the 2009 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-021 on the Lincoln Bicentennial Cent shows a very strong spread manifesting as an extra index finger just below the thumb and an extra book spine above the thumb on the Formative Years reverse design by Charles Vickers. This design, depicting a young Abraham Lincoln reading while seated on a log, was one of four special reverses issued in 2009 to celebrate the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth. The coin is struck in copper-plated zinc at 2.50 grams and 19.05 mm diameter. VarietyVista die markers are UVC-2653 and DMR-024, with four documented die states: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed), Stage B showing a die crack with small die chip across the lower left boot and light die crack on forehead at EMDS, Stage C with a radial die crack through the last A of AMERICA at MDS with obverse also at MDS, and Stage D at LDS (unconfirmed). The FS-806 cross-reference confirms its recognition by major attribution services.
