2009 (D) Lincoln Cent - Early Childhood - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-023

Description

2009-D EC WDDR-023 is a doubled die reverse on the 2009-D Lincoln Bicentennial cent with the Early Childhood reverse, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is on the upper right of log end #7 and the bottom of log end #9. On the obverse, a small gouge lies left of the I in IN, near its top, and a small gouge (dot) sits in the bottom of the second zero. One crack crosses the eyebrow heading WNW, then bends NNW into the forehead. A second crack starts at the middle of the eyebrow and runs NNW through the forehead, sending off a branch to the WNW before it gets to the hair; a die chip sits on this second crack. On the reverse, a small gouge is WSW of the U in UNITED at its base, and north-to-south scratches run beside the upper M and the upper I of AMERICA, on their right. Marilyn Keeney submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
