2009 (D) Lincoln Cent - Early Childhood - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-019

Description

2009-D EC WDDR-019 is a doubled die reverse on the 2009-D Lincoln Bicentennial cent with the Early Childhood reverse, cataloged by the Wexler team. The tops of log ends #5 through #8 show the doubling. On the obverse, a crack crosses the hair high on the back of the head, running SW to NE, and another crack heads NW across the eyebrow and on into the forehead. On the reverse, there is die pitting SSW of the U in UNITED and also below the space between its U and N. Three cracks surround the J of JL (the designer's initials): one curves NW from the J's lower left, a short one runs north from its top, and one runs SSE from its lower right. Marilyn Keeney submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
