2009 (D) Lincoln Cent - Early Childhood - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-010

Description

2009-D EC WDDR-010 is a doubled die reverse on the 2009-D Lincoln Bicentennial cent with the Early Childhood reverse, cataloged by the Wexler team. Slight doubling shows left of log end #9. Wexler lists two stages. Obverse, Stage A: a short diagonal gouge left of the top of the mint mark, and a pre-die crack depression running NW through the eyebrow. For the Stage B obverse: a crack runs SW to NE through the hair at the upper back of the head; the eyebrow depression has lengthened into the forehead; and a second pre-die crack depression crosses the upper front of the forehead from WNW to ESE. Reverse, Stage A: a short vertical scratch at the rim over the N in UNITED, and another between the centers of the C and second A of AMERICA. On the Stage B reverse: a short crack running WSW from the lower right of the R in the RM initials, a crack running NE from the upper right of the M, and a crack that curves away NW from the J of the JL initials, starting at its lower left. Marilyn Keeney submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
