Description

Struck at the Denver Mint on the 2009 Lincoln Cent Early Childhood reverse, DDR-014 presents light spread in two directions on the log cabin design. Northeast-directed extra thickness appears as additional log ends on logs number 8, 9, and 10 from the bottom, while a southward spread produces a separate extra log end on log number 10 alone. The dual-direction spread on log 10 — receiving both northeast and south extra metal — helps distinguish DDR-014 from neighboring VarietyVista entries. Die markers include UVC-3085 and DMR-016, with three documented die stages: Stage A shows both obverse and reverse in Early Die State, Stage B is Mid Die State though unconfirmed, and Stage C represents Late Die State, also unconfirmed. The 2009 Lincoln Cent program celebrated Abraham Lincoln's bicentennial with four rotating reverse designs, and the Early Childhood log cabin reverse depicting the Kentucky birthplace was the first issued that year. Collectors screening for DDR-014 should focus on the log-end zone near the base of the cabin wall, where the doubled impressions are most visible under moderate magnification.
