2009-D Doubled Die Reverse DDR-012
Error
Description
A strong northward spread manifests on this 2009-D Lincoln Bicentennial Early Childhood cent as extra log ends extending from logs seven, eight, and nine counting from the bottom of the log cabin depicted on the reverse. The Early Childhood reverse — one of four special designs struck in 2009 to mark the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth — represents the Kentucky log cabin in which Lincoln spent his earliest years. The additional log-end impressions produced by the die misalignment appear where the northward hubbing shift duplicated the ends of the topmost logs visible in the design. Die markers are cross-referenced as UVC-2825 and DMR-014. Stage A was early die state (unconfirmed). At Stage B (early-mid die state) die cracks appeared northwest and southeast from the designer's initials, along with light die cracks on the forehead and a light die crack in the hair. Stage C was late die state (unconfirmed). Variety attributed by VarietyVista.
