2009-D Doubled Die Reverse DDR-006

Description

Among the four reverse designs issued in 2009 to mark the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birth, the Early Childhood reverse — designed by Richard Masters and sculpted by Jim Licaretz — depicts a Kentucky log cabin representing Lincoln's humble origins. DDR-006 targets the cabin's detailed log construction, presenting medium spread but light hubbing that manifests as an extra log end on log number 10 counted from the bottom of the cabin wall. This subtle addition to the log structure requires careful comparison against a normal specimen to detect, as the light hubbing intensity means the secondary impression blends closely with the primary image. Die markers UVC-2777 and DMR-008 anchor the attribution. Three die stages document the die's production life: Stage A at Early Die State, Stage B at Mid Die State (unconfirmed), and Stage C at Late Die State (unconfirmed). The Denver Mint struck hundreds of millions of 2009 cents across all four Bicentennial reverses, and DDR-006 preserves a hub doubling anomaly specific to the cabin design where the log construction detail provided a diagnostic zone unique to this one-year reverse type.
