Description
The wavy steps on 2008P-1DER-006WS run under five columns, 5 through 9: there, trails pass across the Memorial's stairs and leave them looking warped. More trails sit beneath columns 2 and 3. TrailDies records the offset as 190°, a touch west of due south. Its file number joins 2008P (date and mint), 1 (cent), DER (design extension, reverse), 006 and WS (wavy steps). Markers on the middle-die-state coin: a faint crack from Lincoln's eyebrow into his forehead, a small crack over the top of column 2, and a small dent inside the O of ONE. Aisha Shahid found the die. Polishing with a rotary tool is the usual explanation for trails; some instead hold that the die moved against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – a light die crack is seen from Lincoln’s eyebrow into his forehead.
- Reverse is MDS – a small die crack is seen over the top of column 2. A small die dent is seen on the inside of the O in ONE.
