2008 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DEO-010T Trail Die Obverse

Description

The TrailDies entry for 2008P-1DEO-010T has no written description of the trails; it gives only the offset direction, 200°, south-southwest, along with two die stages. The prefix 2008P is the Philadelphia date and 1 the cent; DEO is TrailDies' tag for an obverse design extension, 010 the file, and T the trail type. At stage A, late early die state, neither side has markers. At stage B, middle die state, two cracks with chips mark the back of Lincoln's head, and on the reverse a crack cuts across L, U and R in PLURIBUS, with another crossing UNUM's first U. Bill Glenn of Florida found it. Trails are usually attributed to rotary polishing of the die, though some attribute them to die-to-hub movement.
