Description
All four digits of the date carry light trails on 2008P-1DEO-007T, running at 060°, east-northeast, toward the upper right. Code 2008P is date plus mint, and the rest runs 1 (cent), DEO (obverse), 007 (file) and T (trails). Nothing marks the obverse of the late-middle-die-state coin, but the reverse has chipped at column 1 and bay 1, with several cracks spreading out from that spot, and a split crack in the E of ONE that runs into the rim. Louis Schaeffer found it. The standard explanation for trails is polishing of the die with a rotary buff, with movement of the die against the hub as the minority view.
Die Markers
- Stage “B”, obverse is LMDS- none noted.
- Reverse is LMDS – a die chip has formed in column and bay 1. Multiple die cracks can be seen radiating from this die chip. There is a split die crack in the E of ONE that ends with the crack merging into the rim.
