Description
Moderate trails extend from LIBERTY on 2008P-1DEO-006T, starting at the top left corner of each letter, offset at 330°, north-northwest. The code's 2008P and 1 mean a Philadelphia cent of 2008; DEO places the design extension on the obverse; 006 is the file; T marks trails. On the early-middle-die-state coin TrailDies describes, a small developing crack runs from the top of Lincoln's forehead into his hair, angling toward the first T of TRUST, and on the reverse a crack runs through the C and E of CENT. Jeremy Gardner found the die. Trails are typically put down to rotary polishing of the die, though some think the die moved against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “B”, obverse is EMDS – a small developing die crack is seen in the top part of Lincoln’s forehead entering into the hair and angling towards the first T in TRUST.
- Reverse is EMDS – a die crack in the C and E of CENT.
