2008 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DEO-005T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Each letter of LIBERTY sends light trails from its top left corner on 2008P-1DEO-005T, and they run at 320°, northwest, toward the upper left of the coin. TrailDies numbers it file 005 of the 2008P obverse design extensions (DEO) on the cent (1), with T for a trail die. The coin is early die state, with a small gouge just under the gap between the date's two zeros and no reverse markers. Jeremy Gardner found it. Trails are usually explained as the result of polishing the die with a rotary buff; some instead attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
