2008 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DEO-003T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Trails come from the 2 and the first 0 of the date on 2008P-1DEO-003T. The heading of the entry reads 260°, but the text gives the offset as 250°, west-southwest. TrailDies notes that the die is similar to 2006P-1DEO-013T. 2008P in the code gives date and mint; then come 1 for the cent, DEO for the obverse, the file number 003 and the trail letter T. On the early-die-state coin a light crack crosses Lincoln's forehead, and on the reverse a crack runs above bay 1 and another across the top of column 2. Louis Schaeffer found it. Polishing of the die with a rotary buff is the usual explanation for trails, though some suggest the die moved against the hub.
