The 2008 (D) Presidential Dollar - John Quincy Adams, Position B is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 57.7 million examples, making this ranked 7th of 21 mint variants by mintage, with 5% of production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The sixth President (1825–1829) and son of second president John Adams, John Quincy Adams won a contested election decided by the House of Representatives. After his presidency, he served 17 years in Congress — the only former president to do so. The second year honored Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Jackson, and Van Buren. Mounting complaints about edge lettering legibility led Congress to move "In God We Trust" to the obverse starting in 2009. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $5 depending on grade and condition.
