2007P-1DER-010T Trail Die Reverse

Description

Discovered by Gene Nichols, the 2007P-1DER-010T is a two-component trail die reverse on the Philadelphia Mint Lincoln Memorial Cent, combining a working die wavy step with a working hub wavy step. This dual-component structure means the trail die features originate from two separate stages in the die manufacturing chain, producing a more complex set of secondary design traces than single-component trail dies. The fluting line extensions, characteristic of trail die varieties, show an offset direction of 200 degrees, placing the displacement in the south-southwest quadrant. Documented at Stage B, the obverse is at mid-die-state with no markers noted. The reverse is also at MDS, displaying a small die chip with an accompanying die crack in column 1 and a die crack extending to the rim in the C of CENT. The column 1 chip-and-crack combination paired with the C of CENT rim crack provides two distinct reverse diagnostic zones for this penultimate-year Memorial reverse trail die variety.
