2007 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-010T Trail Die Reverse

Description

TrailDies divides 2007P-1DER-010T into two parts. The trail part has fluting lines running into the stylobate below columns 2 and 3 and step deviation graded moderate to light beneath columns 5 to 8, offset at 200°, south-southwest; this is the wavy-step pattern, in which trails cross the Memorial's steps so they look bent. The second part, catalogued separately as 2007P-1WHDER-001, shows as indents in the stairs below columns 5 to 9 and in the stylobate under columns 11 and 12. Apart from the T suffix, the number reads normally: 2007P for date and mint, 1 for cent, DER for the reverse, 010 for the file. At the middle die state a small chip and crack mark column 1, and a crack runs through the C of CENT to the rim. Gene Nichols found it. The trail part is usually attributed to polishing of the die with a rotary buff, though some attribute it to the die moving against the hub.
