2007 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-001WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

2007P-1DER-001WS has moderate fluting extension below columns 1 to 3, reaching into the stylobate, and a moderate bend in the stairs under columns 5 through 8. The offset is 200°, south-southwest. WS stands for wavy steps, the name for trail lines that cross the Memorial's steps and bend them; the other parts are 2007P (Philadelphia, 2007), 1 (one cent), DER (reverse extension) and the file, 001. At the middle die state a small gouge sits next to Lincoln's eye with a small scratch below V.D.B., and the reverse has a chip in column 1 and a crack between the L and U of PLURIBUS. Bill Slaughter of Arkansas found it. Wavy steps are commonly put down to rotary polishing of the die; a minority sees die movement against the hub behind them.

• Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – small die gouge next to Lincoln’s eye. Small die scratch is seen below V.D.B.
• Reverse is MDS – die chip in column 1. Die crack between the L U of PLURIBUS.
