2007 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DEO-016T Trail Die Obverse

Description

On 2007P-1DEO-016T trails hang from the bottoms of the letters of LIBERTY at 170°, a little east of due south. The number joins 2007 with P (Philadelphia), the denomination 1, DEO for the obverse, the file, 016, and T for trails. At the late die state described, the obverse has no markers; the reverse has slanting scratches above the ON of ONE and a gouge in the C of AMERICA. File 015 is similar in kind, but its trails come only from LIBE and run at 180°. Trails are usually ascribed to rotary polishing of the die, though some ascribe them to the die moving against the hub.

• Reverse is LDS – diagonal die scratches are seen above the ON of ONE. A die gouge is seen in the C of AMERICA.
