2007 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DEO-015T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Trails come from the bottoms of LIBE in LIBERTY on 2007P-1DEO-015T and point at 180°, straight down toward the bottom rim. TrailDies' code is 2007P (Philadelphia date), 1 (cent), DEO (obverse design extension), 015 (file) and T (trails). The coin is from late in the die's life: Lincoln's forehead carries a crack, and the top of column 2 another on the reverse. Only the first four letters of LIBERTY are listed, which separates it from file 016, where trails come from the whole word at 170°. Die polishing with a rotary tool is the accepted explanation for trails; some suggest the die moved against the hub instead.
