Description
Faint trails leave the left tops of the letters of LIBERTY on 2007P-1DEO-009T at 330°, north-northwest toward the upper left. The number stands for 2007 and P (Philadelphia), the cent (1), DEO, meaning the obverse shows the design extension, then file 009 and the trail suffix T. The coin TrailDies describes is late die state: a crack with a chip runs through Lincoln's hair, and cracks cross the tops of columns 1, 2 and 4 on the reverse. Louis Schaeffer found it. Rotary polishing of the die is the explanation usually given for such lines, while some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – die crack with die chip in Lincoln’s hair.
- Reverse is LDS – die cracks are seen on the tops of the columns 1, 2 and 4.
