2007 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DEO-006T Trail Die Obverse

Description

TrailDies calls 2007P-1DEO-006T an unusual trail die: LIBERTY is smeared toward the west, which it describes as a ramped trail die. Two faint trails also appear, one on the D of GOD and one on the W of WE, and the date shows some design extension too. The entry's heading says 200°, but the text puts the offset near 270°, due west, toward the left of the coin. Its number gives 2007P for a Philadelphia coin of that year, 1 for the denomination, DEO to place the extension on the obverse, 006 as the file, and T for trails. No markers are listed for either side at the early middle die state. Bob Piazza of Florida found it. Trails are mostly attributed to rotary polishing of the die; some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
