2007 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DEO-004T Trail Die Obverse

Description

Trails run off the upper left corners of LIBERTY's letters on 2007P-1DEO-004T. The entry's heading says 330°, but its text gives the offset as 300°, west-northwest, toward the upper left. The code: Philadelphia 2007 (2007P), cent (1), obverse design extension (DEO), file 004, trail die (T). On the middle-die-state coin small dots lie over the 7 of the date, and a light crack leaves the left tip of the cornice heading toward the T in UNITED. Bob Piazza of Florida found it. Trails are generally attributed to die polishing with a rotary buff, though some attribute them to movement of the die against the hub.

Die Markers

• Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – small die dots over the seven of the date.
• Reverse is MDS – light die crack from the left tip of the cornice, traveling towards the T in UNITED.
