Ribar on the 2005 Philadelphia Mint Jefferson Nickel Ocean in View design, WDDR-047 extends the catalog of doubled die reverses from this single-year commemorative issue honoring the Lewis and Clark expedition's Pacific arrival. The Ocean in View reverse proved remarkably productive for doubled die varieties, a consequence of the design's detailed coastal landscape and extended inscription creating numerous elements susceptible to visible hub displacement. Cross-referenced under Wexler Variety ID 2005 P WDDR-047 Business Strike Ocean in View, this variety was discovered among the high-volume Philadelphia Mint business strike production. Ribar's identification adds to the body of attributable varieties from this design, which collectively represent one of the densest concentrations of doubled die reverses on any single Jefferson Nickel reverse type.
