Description

Cataloged as UVC-1517 and DMR-065 in the VarietyVista system, the 2005 Philadelphia Mint Minnesota State Quarter DDR-062 shows light spread producing an extra tree tucked low and close to the right of the third tree in the Minnesota design. The Minnesota State Quarter reverse, depicting a lake scene with a loon and trees, spawned numerous "extra tree" varieties. Die stage progression documents three stages: Stage A shows both reverse and obverse at early die state. Stage B advances to early-mid die state with a small die chip west of the designer's initials. Stage C is an unconfirmed late die state. While DDR-062 exhibits lighter doubling than other Minnesota extra tree varieties, the extra tree diagnostic remains accessible against the wooded shoreline background, and the Stage B die chip near the designer's initials provides a useful die-state sorting criterion.
