2005 (P) Minnesota State Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse DDR-055

Description

2005-P MN DDR-055 is a doubled die reverse on the 2005-P Minnesota state quarter, cataloged by VarietyVista. The spread is extra strong. A horn-shaped protrusion sits to the right of the third tree, originating in the rocks South of the doubling; more traces of doubling show in the field from the high points of the rocks below. VarietyVista also gives it as 55-R-VIII. VarietyVista's chart numbers are UVC-1510 and DMR-058. Stage A (early die state) is unconfirmed. At Stage B the reverse is in an early middle die state, with a die chip sitting between the designer's two sets of initials (early middle). At Stage C the reverse is in a middle die state; a die crack crosses the front of the bust (middle die state), and die chips appear on the lower ribbon. At Stage D the obverse is in a late middle die state, and a die crack runs North from the upper left of the state outline to the rim (late middle). Stage E (late die state) is unconfirmed.
