2005 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-032
Error
Description
Struck at the Philadelphia Mint on the Minnesota State Quarter, the 2005 DDR-032 exhibits medium spread producing a light extra branch on the lower right of the third tree—a subtle but collectible addition to the already tree-heavy Minnesota reverse design. Cataloged as UVC-1486 and DMR-034 in the VarietyVista system, three die stages document the die's progression. Stage A places both the reverse and obverse at early die state. Stage B advances to early-to-mid die state, marked by a die crack developing across the front of the bust into the field on the obverse, with the reverse at EMDS. Stage C represents an unconfirmed late die state. Minnesota Quarter varieties attracted widespread collector attention in 2005 due to the well-publicized "extra tree" doubled dies, and while DDR-032 presents a lighter spread than the most famous examples, its extra branch on the third tree connects it to that popular collecting niche. The Stage B bust crack provides a useful secondary diagnostic for die-stage identification.
