Description

DDR-029 on the 2005-P Minnesota State Quarter — the North Star State's entry in the State Quarters program — is catalogued by VarietyVista under die pair UVC-1483, DMR-031. The Minnesota reverse design features a lake, a loon, and a stand of trees with a prominent tree grouping. The doubling shows as a strong but teardrop-shaped area of secondary tree detail between the third tree and the rock — a secondary impression of tree elements in a distinctively teardrop-shaped zone, similar in character to several other documented Minnesota doubled tree varieties but with different positioning that sets DDR-029 apart from those related entries. Die state progression covers two documented stages: Stage A is Early Die State. Stage B is defined by a die crack across the base of the bust on the obverse at Early Middle Die State, with the reverse concurrently at Early Middle Die State. The 2005-P Minnesota State Quarter was struck in copper-nickel clad at the Philadelphia Mint. Cross-reference: VarietyVista DDR-029, UVC-1483, DMR-031.
