2005 (P) Minnesota State Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse DDR-015

Description

2005-P MN DDR-015 is a doubled die reverse on the 2005-P Minnesota state quarter, cataloged by VarietyVista. Counting right from the state outline, the strong spread shows on the uppermost relief areas of the rock that lies right of the third full tree, shifted well to the north. VarietyVista also gives it as 15-R-VIII, and its chart numbers are UVC-1469 and DMR-017. Stage A has a strong secondary image, in an early die state (EDS). Its gouges sit between the T and A of MINNESOTA, under the ripples southwest of the duck, and south of the O in OF; the last is also marked EDS. On Stage B the secondary image is light because of abrasion, in an early middle die state (EMDS). A die crack runs northwest from the upper left of the state to the rim, and another crosses the base of the bust, marked EMDS. Stage C adds a die chip in the lower part of the last 8 in 1858, in a middle die state (MDS), and the obverse is MDS too. Stage D, the late die state, is unconfirmed.
