2005 (D) Oregon Satin Finish State Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse DDR-002

Description

2005-D OR DDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 2005-D Oregon state quarter, cataloged by VarietyVista. A strong spread shows beneath the lower right side of the volcano. VarietyVista also gives it as 2-R-VIII; its chart numbers are UVC-1553 and DMR-004. The Stage A marker is a die gouge dot under the volcano, just west of its center, in an early die state (EDS), and the obverse is also EDS. Neither Stage B, a middle die state, nor Stage C, a late die state, has been confirmed. Reported to VarietyVista by James Wiles. VarietyVista's comments mark it SMS and note that it turns up in Mint Sets.
