2003 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-005

Description

Extra thickness shows on the date, the lower hair and beard details, and the letters of LIBERTY. Strong notches show on the lower left ERTY and the upper left T. Die Markers: Obverse: A short, nearly vertical die scratch can be found to the left of the 2nd T in TRUST. A die crack runs from SSW to NNE through the hair on the upper back of the head. A large die chip can be found on the die crack well south of the D in GOD. Reverse: The reverse of this variety is also a doubled die that is listed in the files as 2003 1¢ WDDR-039. Doubling shows on the left side of the 7th Memorial column to the right of the statue’s legs. A small die gouge can be found below the bottom right tip of the Memorial. A die gouge touches the left side of the O in ONE. Obverse:
