Description

1999-P DE WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 1999-P Delaware state quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling is on the saddlebag's left underside. Obverse markers: a crack through the designer's initials JF WC; a thin east-west scratch left of the eye; a thin NW/SE scratch behind the head; die pitting in many areas, among them left of the bust's front tip, over the U of QUARTER, and through the LIB of LIBERTY, the US of TRUST, the T of UNITED, the TA of STATES and the O of OF; weaker pitting through the TE of QUARTER and the RICA of AMERICA; and a gouge under the M of AMERICA. Reverse markers: a thin WNW/ESE scratch over the horse's lower mane; die pitting in many areas, among them between the front and back hooves, on the 1 of 1999, and through the PLU and US of PLURIBUS; a gouge right of the R of DELAWARE; three gouges over the first E of E PLURIBUS UNUM; a large gouge over the first U of UNUM; and a gouge right of the E of STATE.
