1999D-1DER-001WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

Holding the primary trail die reverse catalog position for the 1999-D Lincoln Memorial Cent, this variety features moderate fluting line extension into the stylobate under columns 2 and 3, with moderate step deviation under columns 5, 6, 7, and 8 at an offset direction of 190 degrees. Trail die errors arise when two dies make partial unintended contact during press operation, transferring faint design lines. Die markers at Stage B: obverse at MDS with none observed; reverse at MDS with die scratches around the E, P, and U of UNUM and three die dots to the right of the T on CENT. The cluster of three die dots near CENT provides a distinctive reverse attribution marker. Struck in copper-plated zinc at 2.5 grams and 19.05 mm at the Denver Mint during the forty-first year of Gasparro's Memorial reverse design.
