1997 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-030

Description

1997-D WDDR-030 is a doubled die reverse on the 1997-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. On the seventh column, right of the statue, a bar reaches from the hand down to the leg's lower part. On the obverse, a gouge within the N of IN, in its upper opening, points toward the rim. From the rim, a short gouge runs south toward the W in WE, over its left opening. Right of the lower part of the last T in TRUST, two faded gouges lie in the field. On the reverse, starting at the middle of the N's left edge in UNITED, two parallel scratches run NE through the I and on to the rim. A gouge (dot) lies far south of the U in UNITED, at the height of the top of the Memorial's left stairs. A short gouge sits on top of the middle crossbar of the T in CENT. Daniel Griffin submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 2-R-VIII.
