1997-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-030

Description

Among the more visually distinctive doubled die reverses for the Lincoln Memorial Cent, this 1997 Denver WDDR-030 produces an immediately recognizable anomaly: a bar extending from the hand to the lower leg of the Lincoln statue on the seventh column. This bar — created by hub displacement connecting two normally separated design elements with a raised bridge of metal — transforms a subtle statue detail into a prominent diagnostic. A die gouge (dot) shows well south of the U in UNITED, level with the top of the left memorial stairs. A short die gouge shows on top of the central crossbar of the T in CENT.
