1997-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-013
Error
Description
On the Lincoln Memorial reverse, WDDR-013 manifests as a bar extending from the elbow to the bottom of the foot on the right side of the statue at the seventh column. This distinctive doubling effect creates a visible connection between design elements that are normally separated. Reverse die markers include a die chip in the bottom of the last memorial bay, a die chip and crack on the upper first column with the crack extending into the first bay, a die crack on the upper second column, and a die chip at the top right of the E of UNITED. No significant obverse markers have been noted. The concentration of die chips and cracks across the first two columns and the UNITED inscription provides multiple secondary diagnostics beyond the primary statue doubling. Collectors should examine the seventh column area under magnification, where the bar-like connection between the statue's elbow and foot serves as the most immediately identifiable pickup point for this variety.
