Sixth in the Wexler census of doubled die reverses for the 1997 Denver Mint Lincoln Memorial Cent, WDDR-006 records a hubbing misalignment that produced visible doubling on the reverse of this copper-plated zinc cent. Denver's high-volume cent production in 1997 required hundreds of die pairs cycled through presses running at rates exceeding 700 strikes per minute, and the mechanical tolerances governing hub-to-die alignment allowed for minor variances that variety specialists detect and catalog. The Lincoln Memorial reverse designed by Frank Gasparro provides excellent attribution targets: its twelve columns, entablature inscriptions, and the small seated Lincoln figure between central columns all display geometric regularity that makes even slight doubling measurable.
