Description

This is a dual directional trail die. The first and most prominent set of trail lines are seen from the motto EPU, the word STATES, the word AMERICA, the cornice, the right top corner of all the columns, the right corner of the Memorial building roof, Lincoln’s statue, the top right corners of both URNS, the right corners of the stylobate and the letter T of CENT. This set has an offset direction of 040º. The second set of trail lines is seen from the E of ONE. This set has an offset direction of 130º. This die is considered a major trail die.

Die Markers

  • Stage “B“, obverse is MDS – small die dots are seen in the field in front of Lincoln’s face.
  • Reverse is MDS – a small die scratch is seen above the left side of the U in UNITED. A heavy die scratch is seen from the right side of the T in CENT. This is not to be confused with a trail line.
