Description
1996P-1DER-034T has trails at the upper left corners of the motto's letters, along with TATE in STATES and ER in AMERICA, running at 330°, north-northwest. Its number decodes as a 1996 Philadelphia cent, a reverse-side design extension (DER), file 034, trails (T). With several 330° reverses on file for 1996, its markers are the guide: on the middle-state coin TrailDies describes, old gouges lie just above and left of the stylobate's left corner, and another sits just under the left end of the base line. Jeremy Gardner found the die. Trails are usually put down to rotary polishing of the die, though some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.

- Stage “B”, obverse is MDS – none noted.
- Reverse is MDS – old die gouges are seen just above and to the left of the left corner of the stylobate. Another die gouge is seen just below the left corner of the base line.
