1995-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

Attributed by the Wexler Team under Wexler Variety ID 1995-D 1-cent WDDR-002 and cross-referenced as Coppercoins 1995D-1DR-002, this Denver Mint Lincoln Memorial Cent displays a strongly tilted partial column protruding from the right side of the 6th Memorial column, to the left of the statue's right knee. The reverse carries multiple die gouges as attribution markers: a small gouge below and between I and T of UNITED, a gouge left of center of O in ONE, a gouge in the upper inside of O in ONE, a gouge right of the horizontal crossbar of T in CENT, and a gouge just right of the last Memorial column midway up from the bottom. These five distinct gouges provide redundant attribution points — even if wear obscures some, others remain visible. The 1995 date is significant in Lincoln Cent variety collecting as the year of the famous 1995-P doubled die obverse, and Denver's own DDR shows hub doubling occurred at both facilities.
