1994 (D) Roosevelt Dime - D-10DER-001T Trail Die Reverse

Description

1994D-10DER-001T is file 001 among TrailDies' reverse trail dies for the 1994 Denver Roosevelt dime. The number gives 1994D for date and mint, 10 for the dime and DER for the reverse, followed by the file number and a T for the trail type. Moderate lines hang from the bottoms of the letters of DIME, and a lone line leaves the middle of the M in UNUM; the entry's heading puts the direction at 180°, due south. Bill Slaughter of Arkansas found it. At the late die state described, short scratches run between Roosevelt's lips on the obverse and one stands just left of the E in ONE on the reverse. The usual explanation for trails is polishing of the die with a rotary buff, though some attribute them to the die moving against the hub.
