1993 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-067WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

On 1993P-1DER-067WS, trail lines enter the stylobate beneath columns 2 and 3, and the steps under columns 4 to 8 are bent; the entry gives no strength grade. Everything runs at 190°, just west of due south. TrailDies' code: 1993P, Philadelphia's 1993; 1, the cent; DER, design extension on the reverse; 067, the file; WS, wavy steps, the name for trails that warp the stairs. The middle-die-state obverse has a scratch below the ERTY of LIBERTY and light scratches in front of Lincoln's face. The reverse was clashed twice; TrailDies shows clash marks in bays 8 and 9 and below the U of UNUM. Louis Schaeffer found the die. These lines are generally credited to a rotary polishing tool working the die, though some prefer the explanation that the die moved against the hub.
