1993P-1DER-067WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

Like 049WS earlier in this census, Louis Schaeffer's 1993P-1DER-067WS combines trail die characteristics with die clash evidence — but this variety documents both obverse damage and multiple clash locations on the reverse. A die scratch runs under the ERTY of LIBERTY on the obverse, accompanied by light die scratching across the front of Lincoln's face. The reverse carries die clashes at two locations: clash marks appear in bays 8 and 9, and additional marks sit under the U of UNUM. Clash marks at two separate reverse positions — one in the Memorial bays, one in the upper legend — suggest either a single severe clash across a wide arc, or multiple clash incidents during the die's service. Both dies are at Stage B in mid-die-state. The coexistence of trail die wavy steps (from hubbing), clash marks (from production), and die scratching (from maintenance) means this die accumulated three mechanically distinct categories of anomaly — each telling a different chapter of its working history.
