1993 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - P-1DER-065WS Trail Die Reverse

Description

1993P-1DER-065WS has light wavy steps running under columns 4 through 8, at 180°, due south. The number is the 1993 Philadelphia date (1993P), the cent (1), TrailDies' reverse design extension (DER), file 065 and wavy steps (WS), meaning trail lines that pass over the stairs and make them waver. TrailDies' stage A coin pairs a very late obverse with an early reverse. The obverse has a gouge on top of Lincoln's head below the letters of WE and another on the S of TRUST; the reverse has a small gouge in bay 7, facing the statue. Jeremy Gardner found it. As with other trail dies, rotary polishing of the die is the usual attribution, and a minority view blames movement of the die against the hub.

Die Markers

• Stage “A”, obverse is VLDS – a die gouge is seen on top of Lincoln’s head below and between the letters of WE. Another die gouge is seen on the S of TRUST.
• Reverse is EDS – a small die gouge is seen in bay seven, opposite of Lincoln’s statue.
