Description
TrailDies describes the wavy steps on 1993P-1DER-063WS simply as moderate trail lines beneath columns 4 through 8, which is what a wavy step is: trails running across the Memorial's stairs and bending them. The offset is 180°, straight toward the bottom of the coin. The code covers the date and Philadelphia mint (1993P), the cent (1), TrailDies' DER for the reverse, file 063 and the WS type. On the late-die-state coin a small gouge sits between the O and G of GOD, and a die-wear line runs beneath the right leg of ONE's N. Louis Schaeffer found the die. The common explanation is die polishing with a rotary tool; others think the lines come from the die moving against the hub.
Die Markers
- Stage “C”, obverse is LDS – a small die gouge is seen between the O and G of GOD.
- Reverse is LDS – die deterioration line is seen under the right leg of the N in ONE.
